General Rules:
1. All activities on the range will be conducted
in a safe, courteous and sportsmanlike manner.
2. Eye and hearing protection shall be worn at all
times while engaged in, or watching any shooting sport.
3. When there is more than one participant on the
Rifle and Pistol range, participants should agree to an acting
Range Safety Officer, and that individual shall ensure the
club rules are adhered to. Duties of this Range Safety Officer
will be to insure that the firing line is safe before shooters
go downrange to post or pull targets and to ensure that the
area downrange is clear before shooting commences.
4. There shall be NO alcoholic beverages consumed
on or brought to the property belonging to or leased by the
Sand Springs Sportsman Club.
5. Any person deemed intoxicated, or unfit to handle
a firearm or any person displaying conduct unbecoming a lady
or gentleman shall have his or her firearm confiscated and
will be escorted from the range.
6. Each member shall assist by taking the appropriate
action.
7. Each member shall display his or her current membership
card while engaged in activities on the range.
8. Fees.
a). The current fees for skeet, trap and rifle/pistol will
be set by the Board of Directors and posted in conspicuous
places on the Skeet-Trap Fields, at the Rifle/Pistol Range
and in the newsletter prior to the date of change.
9. The director or person in charge of special shoots,
such as leagues, tournaments, registered shoots and such,
will be responsible for collecting all fees.
10. Before leaving the range, each skeet/trap shooter
is responsible for recording on the cashier sheet his or her
name, the number of rounds shot, the fee per round, the total
amount paid and for depositing these fees into the money box.
Pistol/Rifle range is no charge.
11. The first straight round of 25 birds broken in
a shooter’s career shall be a free round.
12. The last person to leave the range shall be responsible
for locking the entrance gate.
13. Members’ dependents under 18 years of age
must be supervised by an adult club member.
14. Large signs showing appropriate safety rules
will be displayed at the Rifle and Pistol Range, both Skeet
Fields, and the Trap Range. |
SAFETY RULES: |
| 1. No firearm may be loaded until the shooter is on
the firing pad. 2. All firearms shall have
the breech open until on the pad to shoot.
3. When loaded, all firearms should be pointed in
a direction that will not endanger shooters, field personnel,
or spectators.
4. In the event of an equipment failure, the gun
shall be unloaded, if possible, until the necessary repairs
can be made.
5. In the event of firearm malfunction, the muzzle
will remain pointed downrange, away from spectators, trap
houses, other shooters, and yourself.
6. When not in use, firearms will be kept on the
rifle/pistol benches, or in the racks with the actions open
and unloaded. No one shall be forward of the firing line when
shotguns, rifles or pistols are being discharged.
7. No one is to handle another person’s gun
while in the rack, without the owner’s permission.
8. Everyone, especially children, should be kept
behind the shooting pad and away from trap houses, as broken
targets or stray shots can be very dangerous.
9. Empty shotgun shells are not to be picked up during
the round. No live ammunition, including misfires, shall be
left on the field.
10. To increase the number of shooters the club can
accommodate, each shooter should line up behind the preceding
shooter and be ready to step on the pad and shoot. |
| Anyone observed disregarding
these range rules may have his or her membership revoked in
accordance with Article IX of the Club Constitution By-Laws. |
RIFLE AND
PISTOL RANGE: |
| 1. HOURS: Range open 7 days a week, sun up to sun
set only. No shooting allowed after dark. 2.
The Rifle and Pistol Range will be closed during Club Sanctioned
Skeet Tournaments.
3. Individuals using the Rifle and Pistol Range or
the designated Range Safety Officer will ensure that, before
shooters move downrange, all firearms are in a safe condition
and are not manipulated while shooters are downrange.
4. No firearm shall be pointed at or discharged at
anything but your own target(s). Firing at the 200 yard gongs
is permitted.
5. Discharging a firearm in any direction other than
the Sand Springs Sportsman Club designated impact areas is
prohibited. SHOOTING AT ANY OBJECT ACROSS PROPERTY LINES WILL
COST YOU YOUR MEMBERSHIP.
6. Each shooter shall occupy only one stall at a
time.
7. No fully automatic weapons of any kind will be
allowed on the Sand Springs Sportsman Club Range. No fully
automatic or simulated fully automatic firing is allowed
on the Sand Springs Sportsman Club Range. “Bump firing,” Hell
Fire trigger systems and similar methods used to make a semi-automatic
fire at or near full-auto rates are prohibited.
8. No glass, or any kind of concrete blocks shall be used
as targets.
9. Hard target, is to be defined as any type of metal
target, silhouette or pendulum device.
a.)No hard targets will be permitted within 200 yards
of the firing line for center fire rifles.
b.) No hard targets will be permitted within 50 yards
of the firing line for muzzle-loading rifles/pistols or center
fire pistols and .22 rifles/pistols.
c.) Competition Air Gun Hard Targets are allowed
within 25 yards of firing lines.
d.) Metal beverage cans are permitted only if placed
in front of a berm. No targets of any type will be allowed
on the very top of a target holder or berm.
10. All shooters will be responsible for picking
up their own targets, empty boxes, plastic jugs, cans, etc.
and depositing them in the trash barrels. Do not throw live
ammunition, including defective shells in the trash barrels.
11. No fast-draw or quick draw shooting will be allowed
(holster cannot be tied down). Shooting from a holster, in
PPC, IDPA, IPSC course or for timed shooting, as used in police
course, will not constitute fast draw shooting.
12. Official NRA PPC silhouette targets may be used
for PPC shooting and for family home defense training.
13. No shooting is allowed at the utility poles or
power lines or any animal on the poles or power lines at any
time. |
14. Shooters wishing to use the covered rifle/pistol
range must notify shooters on the military-style range that
the covered rifle/pistol range will be in use.
15. Shooters on either the military-style range or the covered
rifle/pistol range must coordinate any downrange activity with
shooters on the other range.
16. No targets shall be placed beyond the 200 meter impact
berm
(in the woods). |
MILITARY
STYLE RIFLE AND PISTOL RANGE: |
1. This range may be used for 100 yard shooting of
paper targets only. No targets may be placed closer than the
100 yard berm and all firing must be done from the designated
shooting pad, and fired directly toward the designated 100 yard
target area.
2.Shooters may NOT fire from this pad toward the targets on
the covered rifle/pistol range.
3. THIS RANGE IS TO BE USED ON A NON-INTERFERENCE BASIS WITH
THE SKEET FIELDS. IF EITHER SKEET FIELD IS IN USE, THE MILITARY-STYLE
RANGE MAY NOT BE USED.
If skeet shooters arrive to use EITHER of the skeet fields,
shooters on the military-style range must move to the covered
rifle/pistol range to continue shooting.
4. This range does NOT interfere with use of the trap field.
5. Shooters wishing to use this range must notify shooters on
the covered rifle/pistol range that the military-style range
will be in use.
6. Shooters on either the military-style range or the covered
rifle/pistol range must coordinate any downrange activity with
shooters on the other range.
7. This range is for centerfire or muzzleloader rifles and pistols
at 100 yards only! |

competition and hunting shooting positions. These include
the use of shooting sticks as well as sitting, kneeling, prone,
offhand, etc.

of the club ranges or fields when the Red Flag is in the raised

SKEET AND TRAP RANGE: |
1. Unless otherwise provided herein, or agreed upon
by the contestants, all Skeet rounds will be governed by the
Rules and Regulations of the National Skeet Shooting Association,
and Trap rounds will be governed by the Rules and Regulations
of the Amateur Trap Association.
2. HOURS;
Fields can be used 7 days a week, sun up to after dark under
lights. Rangemaster will not be present at any time. The skeet
and trap fields will be closed during Club Sanctioned rifle/pistol
matches. 3. ORDER OF SHOOTING:
Except during tournaments and unless otherwise agreed upon,
the order of shooting should be mutually agreed upon by the
shooters.
4. TOURNAMENTS AND TROPHIES:
a) Classes will be set following NSSA and ATA rules.
(Refer to rule 1.)
b) Quarterly shoots may be held in each three month
period beginning with January 01, and one shall be designated
to Club Championship Tournament.
c) The number of targets shot, entry fees and awards
for all, and the Club Championship Tournament will be announced
by the Tournament Committee.
d) In the event of ties, it shall be determined
by the shooters participating in the shoot-off on how the
shoot-off will be conducted.
5. KEYS:
Members desiring a key for the skeet/trap houses may check
one out from the treasurer or orientation officer. You will
be required to sign a log for the key. |
